Where to run track laps in San Diego

San Diego has close to the best track-running weather in America — mild and dry almost year-round, so the outdoor ovals are usable every month. That makes the city's park and college tracks a genuine everyday resource rather than a fair-weather one. The main variable is access, not climate: check which school and campus tracks are open to the public before you go.

What local runners say

8-lane track with turnout on one side. It has some material coming up in spots, weeds breaking through on the outside edge, and very shallow puddles build up on wet days but still mostly flat and safe to run on.

The track is in superb condition and the location is amazing. The track is reserved for University of California San Diego students with no external access when they train. I was there for a business trip and went for a spin in the early morning, so no problems.

Track on MCRD San Diego, good place to run for active duty personal near the area.
