Where to run track laps in Austin

Austin is one of the most running-obsessed cities in the country, and while its famous trails get the attention, the track scene is deep — university, high-school, and park ovals across the metro. The summer heat is the constant to plan around: dawn and after-dark running is the norm, so early access and lit tracks are worth seeking out.

What local runners say

I’m a big fan of track and field. I watch track and field during the Olympics. But I had never seen it live. When I saw tickets available for the Texas Relays, I knew I had to go. And it was an amazing experience. Every seat in the stadium provided a great view of the races and events.

The Running track is amazing. It is so nice for people they have knee pain. The air is cold during the night and there is good blowing of air this place is good for doing sport.

Open often, but it's a hard worn out track, 7 lanes. Plenty of hills and stairs around, bleachers too, for diverse workouts.
